I forgot to touch on it, but the part of 37/38 I was most into was that Saeko has YET AGAIN found herself in a storyline where she's dependent on -slash- trying to manipulate a powerful man that is not a fan of her dad. Say what you will about Wakana's arc/"arc" through W, but this show 100% nails all of Saeko's psychology and development.

It feels liker the easier fix? Just have Wakana be dedicated to the Museum and try and convince Philip to join her? Instead, the show made her an unrepentant villain, and it's both mystifying and unsatisfying.

I wish I remembered how I found that part of the story originally, but my memories of 38 are all about how toxic I found the ending. (Seriously! Ruined the next ten episodes for me!) In retrospect, it seemed obvious from that Saeko scene way back when, but I think there's room to interpret that as Saeko trying to reclaim a test subject through persuasion instead of threats. It's not some huge shock, but I can't remember how early it clicked for me.
