Well, if it turns out that Spanner is also a homunculus then it'd be a very badly written plot twist. It should be rightly called asspull, not plot twist, because the story has never shown nor implied it. But if the name of the game is "Gotcha!" moments, then why not? Haha.

This. I concur. The infodump by Gigist in this episode was done to condense information that should've revealed organically in several episodes. An infodump is basically a shortcut (or even a cheat) to dispense information as much as possible in the shortest amount of time.
