Although Kyoka meant well, she's misguided. As a result, Supana is now angry at the few people he cares about.

It's quite surprising that the Malgam is now one of the main characters, unlike Sabi's brainwashed case. However, it's expected given that Geryon and Angel Malgam went out of their way to psychologically torture Supana by bringing back his parents only to force him to relive their deaths.

Even X-Rex's memory reading ability shows that the "erased" memories are still preserved deep in people's minds.

I think the Academy's secretive nature is causing an issue here. Supana's problems can't be discussed with therapists because it would expose alchemy. This means that Kyoka has to erase and rewrite Supana's memories instead.
