What sort of repercussions?
I just googled return of ultraman episode 33 and checked the trivia section of the wiki.

This episode was written by Shozo Uehara as a nod to the discrimination of ethnicity in Japan in the past. The Alien Mates is based on Koreans, while Ryo Sakuma is based on the Ainu people living in Hokkaido. Alien Mates' human form's surname, Kanayama, was a common surname of Koreans living in Japan.[1]
The episode faced pushback from TBS, particularly due to its tragic ending, although producer Yoji Hashimoto was able to convince them to air the episode in exchange for suspending Uehara from writing for the series and demoting director Shohei Tojo to assistant director.[1][2] However, Uehara was allowed to write the final episode due to the prinicpal that the person who wrote the first episode should write the last.[1]
Looks like everyone got busted down and had to turn in their badges and guns, like the midpoint of a good cop movie.
Actually, this is so absurd, it’s kind of funny. “Look, just air the episode and we will punish the writer.” Being a producer must be fun.
