Getting back to the guys in jackets and cool masks, I think there might be a Black RX situation here. Where there were regular foot soldiers chaps, as well as three stronger fighters dressed as shinigami.

I couldn't stand Mei and disappointed she never became the third Espada while Kento was gone.

I'm betting the alien/Granute part of him would slowly try to take him over. The Lango guy could try to force the Granute part of Shoma to start feeding on humans to prove his POV and return to their side.
