Many of the original actors do return, though sometimes it takes awhile to accomplish this. Some actors have, sadly, passed away and recasts have been done to accommodate this.
Many of the Eighth's popular adventures come from the audio stuff.
I'm afraid I don't know about Kamen Rider Audio Dramas, but it seems like they don't have the same amount of investment or intrigue.
The reason I brought all this up though is how they took a visual medium and found a way to tell new stories (many of which are meant to take place in-between TV adventures as well as some comic and novel adventures) in a manner that has worked exceptionally well for the past 25 years! Even if an audio drama isn't the right answer for Power Rangers, it's still possible that the aforementioned premise might lead to the right answer if only because it inspired someone somewhere to think about this franchise just a little bit differently.
