Well, although the episode followed a predictable path, there were things in it that surprised me. I'll start with purely technical details: KRVK is a chic suit, even despite its one-color design. The swords on the back are a particularly nice part of the design. Also the inscription: "Kurogane" on the driver. A small but very important detail. I'll come back to it when I discuss Spanner. Geryon's costume is also beautiful. Yes, he's a typical evil final boss, but it suits the character and there are a lot of interesting details that make him relatable.
Also, the conflict with civilians continues, despite the victory over Galejah. I wonder if this line will have a place in the huge final battle? It was nice to see more returning actors.
You also need to give credit to Gigist. Unlike other kings, he, if he did not admit that he was wrong, at least justified his defeat. Still, he is the most reasonable of the three.
Geryon decided to remind why he should be the final villain, because he comes to Hotaro’s home, sadistically does not completely turn Minato into a statue and, of course, kills Lachesis. I am sure that this turn of events took many people by surprise, because it seemed that a happy future awaited her. In general, I doubt that even anyone assumed that Clotho would outlive her sisters.
Speaking of Clotho, here she does more and fearlessly rushes at Gigist, but again does not have time. I wonder what role is in store for her in the finale?
Now let's talk about Kurogane. Many believed that their conflict with Hotaro was a conflict between pragmatism and idealism. But this is wrong. They are both idealists and, contrary to Spanner's opinion, he is even more out of touch with reality. Absorbing the power of the 101st Chemies when even Mad Wheel could not control it is not the act of a pragmatist. It’s just that if Hotaro believes in Gotcha, the power of dreams and friendship, as well as the world of people and Chemies, then Spanner believes in himself.
During Geats, someone wrote to me that Ace was a braggart. I then replied that I did not see this trait in him. But in Spanner I see it perfectly. Remember how many times he mentioned his A-rank. Therefore, Spanner cannot accept Houtarou's position despite his many successes.
Because then Valvarad will not fight alongside Gotchard, but under his command. At least in Spanner's eyes. Even the igniter-based driver was burdensome for him, as he expressed in the same episode. That’s why Kurogane always went into conflict, because in every situation it was important for him to defend his opinion. Even if it is wrong, his Kurogane will fight to the end. This is his parallel with Gigist, who believed that he understood the essence of people simply by recognizing their desires. They both put their opinions above those of others, only Gigist did not recognize boundaries at all.
Therefore, to win, Spanner had to accept the only thing in himself that he considered bad and shameful: the Black Flame. And having done this, he received a development that so impressed Gigist. But this is still not enough to defeat Geryon, because everyone in Eldorado shines. And silver is weaker than gold.
P.S. Well, there's less than a week left until the finals. It's time to take out the flask and prepare a review of the entire show.
P.P.S. I also think that this scene discouraged calling Gotchard a light show. At a minimum, this place is somewhere in the twilight.
