Aw, that was such a great way in! Nick's confusion allows to get introduced to the status quo we'll be following over the next year, and "the confusion of a machine in an organic world" ties in so great with the Mechalius stuff. Really smart way to kick off a year's worth of stories!

Even by normal Sixth Ranger standards, Green Hippo really did die too early in the 30s episode range. Atsushi still had a lot left to offer, but nevertheless, his heroic sacrifice was a strong emotional scene and man, Suzuki Katsuhiro's performance was so full of passion here, like you could really feel the raw grief that Hiromu was experiencing after losing his romantic rival that he had just started to become friends with. Totally a dramatic and sudden end to that amazing love triangle arc.

It was incredibly good, yeah. I was grateful that this show never treated Yoko like a kid sister, and instead got her in a long-simmering romantic subplot with two different teammates. I'm not sure there's another to get her involved in storylines without doing that?
