Sure, there's a small message about empathy and meeting people where they're at thrown in there, but it's not really a primary focus nor is it a major issue to be overcome. Heck, the whole emotional climax, wherein Ray tells Ricca that she's like family now, kinda comes way too easy? But it's whatever.
Dunno if this isn't too easy for her but that, it's also what Ray felt himself that his parents died and he's adopted by the Iskandar family, and Ray extends that to Ricca as well.

I especially liked how she took advantage of the fact that none of the heroes knew what her civilian identity was. And her monster form is cool too.
I too felt that perhaps it'd be better for the marketing team if they don't reveal the human disguises of the Death Phantoms, even though you do think that Chris Ruslan is suspicious already.

And of course, you know, the shirtless scene that I'm sure many a viewer was happy to see. I guess this was all to make up for him being a bit absent recently.
Well yeah, the actors of Bima are, like some of the KR actors, are beginners for acting scene. The males are selected based on them winning L-Men competition, so yeah, based on how they're shirtless.
