Ninja Gaiden 2 is a flawed game. But it is crazy fun.

They tried to iron out its flaws with Sigma 2, succeeded in some areas but ultimately failed because they messed with things that didn’t need to be fixed to begin with.

So now they wanted to make a definitive game and had the chance to take vanilla NG2 and add the feats Sigma 2 managed to improve. Instead they took Sigma 2 and tried to reverse engineer its shortcomings back into their vanilla NG2-state while keeping the better changes intact. From what I’ve heard that didn’t quite work out.

If you never played vanilla NG2 none of this will matter to you. If you did, well, you might still enjoy the updated games. I personally don’t.
