It makes no sense at all if he's been living in the human world as a Granute only using a crappy disguise that can't even cover his monstrous face, without using a Mimic Key at all. I'm really not sure what the writers are trying to pull here. If they think it's a comedy, then I completely fail to see what's funny about it.

Dente did mention that he's unable to assume a human form, so I assume that the required technology to make a Mimic Key for himself is unavailable.
