Doggie is a wise mentor. He gave Sky the chance to show he understood what was important in the leader and Sky instead showed that it was too early for him. There'll be more opportunities to bring this up later, but I think Jack and Sky are good complimentary characters who can learn a lot from each other, in a way you can only see in a strict hierarchy-based show like this one.
