some
level on which you've been able to read into his character by now?
No? I swear I am not trying to be argumentative here, or obstinate, or unwilling to engage with the text of the show. I am also
very much
not claiming that the text is treating Gauma like some opaque cipher or anything. I also -- because I feel like people really like Gauma, and
very much
do not like it when I don't have strong feelings towards Gauma's backstory or motivations -- completely acknowledge that this is me not connecting with the material, not some obvious or glaring flaw in the show.
But no? I don't feel like I get him beyond the most surface aspects of his character, and the interactions he has with the cast. I just constantly
slide off
of his part of the story, to a degree where I can't read anything in particular into it, or find a metaphorical reading that speaks to me or my life experiences. He's a character in a story to me, and the story's fun, but I don't have any additional feelings about him beyond that.
I am very sorry if this is infuriating or a huge letdown!
