I stopped watching this for a while because of issues with Youtube (long story) but I'm back!
Episode 7 seems to be another one that's more about setting up future developments. Turns out there is another villain above Hot Evil Lady who even she's afraid of, calling himself the "Lord of this era!" Honestly I find his first impression kind of underwhelming, since we have only HEL (Hot Evil Lady)'s reaction to actually
show
how dangerous he is, but I'm willing to give him a chance. It might just be an oddity from the translation, but it seemed ambiguous to me whether he and the Phantom Evil Lord from the future are the same person or not, so I'm curious whether that will become clearer in later episodes. I'm also looking forward to what HEL will do now that she's being pushed harder.
And the tension between Sun Wan Ning and Ling Chuan escalates even further as they actually fight each other! I'm glad the writing didn't resort to mind control, or worse a stupid misunderstanding, to get them against each other. After how they got in each other's way in past battles it makes sense that they wouldn't see each other as allies, and insulting each other's fathers is just the last straw to make them both lose their tempers. I find it interesting how of the two, Bataar the main hero is the one who ends up with a "darker" aesthetic thanks to the Rat core's ragged black scarves and shadowy powers, while Tamir who seems to be slipping into antihero territory is still using bright light and clean mechanical lines.
