In a very broad sense, there's maybe some truth to that, but it's definitely been portrayed very differently so far. When Thouser started suffering his long chain of defeats, it was very much presented as a cathartic thing for the audience -- a character we were supposed to (love to) hate finally getting overdue comeuppance.

With NOX, again -- especially after a two-parter dedicated to portraying him as another suffering Dreamer that Baku chooses to save in spite of his villainy -- his whole character is constructed pretty differently, and I think that's been reflected in the way he loses fights so far. Even in 14 where Plasma debuts, for example, there's that whole bit with the fire hydrant that emphasizes NOX as being very smart and tactical, so even though he doesn't come out on top, he doesn't really look bad in the process.

Way back at the end of episode 3, NOX was already talking about destroying this "warped" world, actually.

Personally, for a few reasons, I don't think the show would want to go for the exact twist of the real world secretly being another dream, but what I do think is that, you know, Nightmares have the power to make dreams shape the show's reality, and we already know CODE developed technology like the Capsems to harness that power in a way they see fit...

Like I laid out last week, I do get it, in terms of the episode structure and everything, but yeah, it's a bit of a shame we didn't have room to do a few more cute gags at least. Just one turn-based battle where Seven does 0 damage with his kendama or something, you know?
