Yeah, it would've been nice to have checked in on Gene's Psycho Circus (or whatever it was called) once or twice prior to this, maybe as a way of seeing what the student body made of ongoing Zodiart attacks, or some other measurement of the evolution of the KRC's impact on things. Of course, the answer to "why didn't they do that" is probably "no one on the production thought about what JK did in his free time prior to these episodes"; see also, JK's motivating trauma of his never-before-mentioned fisherman dad.
