Despite being a prequel special, you definitely want to wait until after the show to watch this one.

Mainly because half the jokes this surprisingly cartoony episode makes will go right over your head otherwise. They even go so far as to outright parody the ultimate fates of the Four Generals.

It really is just a special that you're meant to have fun with at the end of the day. And while I personally feel that certain episodes of the main show execute their comedy better than what this one does, I can definitely give it an A for effort. Especially given how the continuity is preserved.

The Sailor V outfit being due to the disguise function in the magic cell phone and not some weird proto-form of Sailor Venus was definitely a nice touch, I felt. And it was cool to see what Mina was like before the memories of her past life hit. Really wish that we had seen a bit more of that during the show proper. Also, Tuxedo Mask has a different mask in this one, and it really threw me off.

Anyway, yeah. Fun for what it is, but nothing stellar.
