I watched the show in its entirety. More precisely, the first season that aired, because the writers clearly have hopes for a continuation. In any case, some conclusions can already be drawn.
In my opinion, Baatar is a great show for introducing tokusatsu to your friends who aren't ready to commit to a year-long show or who have a complex, long-term lore. Because Baatar has all the elements that make us love tokusatsu shows: heroes, villains, spectacular fights, toys. Drama and comedy. Dissimilar characters who eventually become a team and true friends. Yes, a more experienced viewer might find the plot too rushed and simple. At times, I even felt like I was watching a recap of the show, not itself. But this is explained by the fact that, given the number and length of episodes, Baatar is only 1/5 of a typical KR show. And yet, it was still a full-fledged show.
I also liked the scale, especially in the later episodes. Yes, it was mostly created with drone shots of the metropolis, but it still worked, and the characters' world didn't feel limited to the main locations.
I also want to note that, judging by my experience with Baatar and the two Armor Heroes shows, Chinese tokusatsu, although based on Japanese ideas and staff, still has its own recognizable face. This applies to both the visuals and the plot, which is also very cool.
So I recommend it to anyone who wants something quick and not too complicated. And also something different from Japanese tokusatsu, but not too much. It's a good show.
P.S. And, just in case, this review isn't an April Fool's joke.
