Maybe -- there's definitely intentional parallels between the Horoscopes and the KRC -- but it's also just Gentarou not being able to conceive of a group larger than one person that wasn't built around friendship. It's adorably single-minded, but I don't think a celestial death cult was working under the same code of conduct as an afterschool club. Even Utahoshi, Emoto, and Gamou were nominally coworkers -- it's cool if they were also friends, but it wasn't a goal, and it certainly wasn't a prerequisite. I don't want to bring Ex-Aid into things, but part of growing up is being able to work alongside people who aren't your friends! It's okay when that happens! Because holy shit is it going to happen!
