I was also surprised that Nem can actually alter dreams when the plot allows her to. However, the presence of costumes from the original version of the events hints that some things can be misplaced. I also liked that Nem didn't give up and immediately realized that the culprit wasn't her, but Dawn. I also liked how Baku does everything he can to stop the Nightmares. And how he voiced the mission's objective in Japanese. It seemed to further emphasize his seriousness. I liked that his team was given the opportunity to prove themselves and fight. I liked Lady, who decided to enter the dream.Yes, she hasn't done anything concrete yet, but the effect of her action's significance is noticeable.
But I have some reservations about the second half. No, the idea of ​​Baku fixing the belt himself is still so long and persistently brilliant. It's one of the best achievements of the final form. Although personally, I see a structural similarity with Gotchard's achievement of the final form.
My problem lies in the change in tone and tempo of the episode. After a dynamic, full-on action sequence, the invasion of Nightmares into the real world, with switches between different characters, we find ourselves locked with Baku in his subconscious, doing hard, monotonous work with no certainty of success. And while I like what's happening there, I can't fully immerse myself in it, as my thoughts constantly returned to Nem, Dawn, and the Nightmare invasion. Maybe it's a matter of taste, but I seriously think this episode should have been split into two. The remaining time would be better spent teasing CODE: Somnia and Dawn's backstory, which we're promised in the next one.
I also didn't like how Minami and the others are calling for Baku to surrender. It's a stark contrast to them in reality, fighting alongside him and for him. And the fact that it's a projection of his subconscious is even worse. It implies that he doesn't appreciate and/or understand the support of his friends. Again, I'd rather use Dawn and Three for this kind of effort.
There's not much to say about the Exdream, aka the final form, yet. It looks nice, but there's no final form vibe. However, the demonstration of abilities could completely change the impression.
To sum it up, this episode had some good and some not-so-good moments. But overall, I liked it and am curious to see what happens next.
