It was actually confirmed that Ranger Keys will be used in Season 2 over at RangerCrew, I think was the site.

Centuries = 100+ years, Zordon's battle ended 10,000+ years ago. So when Zordon's fight ended, it's possible for Gosei to pick up around the same time the Samurai Rangers did, and ended 100's of years in the past. Bad guys or powers are usually dormant for x-amount of time before they start their fights again. So long as a specific time is not specified there's no problem, Overdrive is a good example.
