Yeah, Rebirth is a TOTALLY different animal compared to Headmasters! Don't even try to wank them together! It doesn't work!
Transformers, especially anything connected to G1, has several dozen different continuities. Don't go into it presuming that the shows are all connected to each other in a strictly linear fashion.
The Sunbow Cartoon in the West effectively ended with Rebirth (though Convention Exclusive comics like those of the Wings Universe would attempt something of an expansion...in a fashion).
The Japanese Continuity plays pretty straightforward, though the Movie didn't play in Japan for a couple years, leading to some continuity gaffes.
Scramble City, a Japanese Exclusive episode, bridges the gap between Seasons 2 and 3.
Season 3 in Japan takes place in 2010, not 2006 like in the West.
Headmasters, Masterforce, and Victory effectively form a very loose "trilogy".
The one episode of Zone would end the animation side for awhile.
It should be noted that Manga and various print material occurs in and around this time. It would become increasingly significant as that was the only new material in the Japanese Continuity for sometime.
Both America and Japan have a version of G2, but it's distinctly different from each other and predominantly related to print material.
Beast Wars in the West is comedic and serious. Beast Wars in Japan is a virtual parody of itself! It should also be understood that Beast Wars doesn't follow any one G1 Continuity, but rather a hodgepodge of different things from the Sunbow Cartoon and Marvel US.
Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo form another branch of Japanese Continuity which has yet to receive an official Western release.
Beast Machines probably still has its detractors, but it does rely on things which were relevant in the Sunbow Cartoon.
RID 2001 is a virtual reboot and one of the first. Car Robots relys on interdimensional time travel to fit into the greater Japanese Continuity!
Armada and Energon omit key elements from Micron and Superlink, and Galaxy Force was originally a reboot even though Cybertron is directly connected to the other dubs despite some pretty big discrepancies.
Animated is its own thing, while Prime is largely in the very loose Aligned Continuity. Should be noted that Japan also did things differently with Prime by having a divergent anime!
RID 2015 follows Prime directly. Cyberverse is again its own thing.
Don't forget the cartoon shorts for Combiner Wars, Titans Return, and Power of the Primes!
The Netflix War For Cybertron Trilogy is also its own thing.
If you want to understand the absolutely confusing Japanese Continuity for G1 which is just a total mess of alternate dimensions, alternate timelines, and one retcon after another, look no further cause Takara-Tomy devised one awhile ago:

Good luck!
