When I see "shows, AND films" mentioned, it implies to me that they want to duplicate CURRENT MCU with streaming mini-series and films operating in conjunction with each other to form a cohesive whole.
Biggest question I can think of is if they're going to start an entirely new continuity with shows and movies to back it up, or are the new film(s) going to be set in the established multiversal continuity that is the show we know with every subsequent entry riffing on the new standard set forth by a new film?
Transformers did Season 1 & 2, did the Movie, then released Season 3 with the idea that it follows the new status quo set forth by the Movie (not precisely though)! That's the pattern I'm wondering about.
This will only work in any capacity if they recognize the mistakes done by DC. They try to jump into something without building anything up. The first film is the make-or-break and it has to actually find its roots before anything can occur between Movies and Shows.
The 2017 entry didn't lead to anything big at the time, but it did take the time to try and establish itself as an origin story and give us reason to follow the characters.
Hasbro might have the conceit that they can do what hasn't been done before: challenge the MCU by ripping it off! They haven't fully rectified the mistakes of Transformers Movie-Verse (commonly referred to as the "Bay-Verse"), but they continue to add something new to it. They also have G.I. Joe to consider with the recent release of Snake Eyes. They think they have enough built up that they can start expanding even further. The 2005 IDW Transformers Continuity tried the same thing toward the end by throwing everything in.
But it all goes back to the success of the initial film. This cannot work otherwise. They won't be the MCU cause nobody on Earth can be the MCU but the MCU! It is something that can never be done again by anyone and not be called a rip-off. They can try to create something similar and beloved if they put the effort in, but they need to get off their high horse before it bucks them off!
