Another thing no one but me knows about, and even if they knew, they wouldn't be able to read it. However, the comic is clearly inspired by tokusatsu and draws heavily from it.
So, Lynx is a comic from the Russian publishing house Bubble (a flagship of the comics industry in its country, even going so far as to adapt its works for the screen. You can even watch the 2021 "Major Grom: Plague Doctor" on Netflix. If it hasn't been removed), published biweekly since June 2024. Rated 12+. Main screenwriter Daniil Vetluzhskikh, artist Aisha Issa, colorist Vanessa Calero-Kondratieva. Guest artists and colorists typically work on special issues and supporting character stories. Synopsis: What if technology and magic coexisted in the modern world? Imagine ancient totems on Earth, conduits between people and spirits, that can imbue their bearers with incredible power. This is the story of the new superhero webtoon "BUBBLE Lynx"! The main character is a shy teenager named Sonya from Novosibirsk who struggles to interact with people. Sonya becomes the new conduit between the divine power of the animal kingdom and humans, transforming into the ultra-fast Lynx! As the author himself has acknowledged, the comic is inspired by tokusatsu. This is primarily evident in the costumes, as can be seen in the art below. There's also henshin and the smashing of it, sparks, and the explosion of defeated monsters. Kaiju and a giant robot also appear in the comic, although not on a regular basis. The main heroine and other costumed characters gain powers by connecting with animal spirits, which is very reminiscent of the Gekirangers and other animal-themed Sentai characters. What's there to talk about if there's literally a Green Eagle there? Overall, this is the story of a teenage superhero. Nothing new for die-hard Spider-Man fans, but it's well-executed. There are plenty of family relationships and an interesting lore. However, for those too mature to understand Sonya's experiences, the comic often gets sidetracked by other characters and worldbuilding. Since this isn't Bubble's first comic and is directly inspired by a crossover between their series, without familiarity with their other comics, the story, while understandable, will be incomplete and filled with gaps. Yes, Bubble Comics is a universe. Not Marvel or DC, but closer to Valiant, but still. Unfortunately, if anyone is interested in this comic, you probably won't be able to read it. Try as I might, I couldn't find an English translation. Unlike Bubble's other works. And, unfortunately, it's unlikely to happen anytime soon. But I still hope someone like this topic. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
