The raw of this episode is out. Hopefully subs will be out sooner rather than later. Until then, all I'm going to say without spoiler tags is that the episode is aptly named.
Now for the spoilers. If you are waiting for subs, don't read. You'll regret it. So much happens this episode that the intro is cut short for more time. Where to begin... Tousei isn't a Magic Horror. The scene is mostly Tousei taunting the heroes to kill him because he knows Makai law forbids the killing of humans...well, except mercy killing, but that's a different story. Tousei also makes out with Endou in this scene. I think it's to taunt Rian, but without subs it comes right the hell out of no where. After that, we get to finally see the ancient ruins hinted at since the beginning of the show. Rian also meets the girl that's been singing since the beginning. It's hard telling without subs, but I think the girl is a prisoner. The Garo sword is also sent flying across town to a place that might just be a reuse of a set, but very much looks like the art hall from first episode of Garo. Might just look similar. Anyways, the rest of what happens made me dislocate my jaw in order to drop it further. During an attempt by Tousei to turn Ryuga into a Magic Horror, Takeru takes the hit. To prevent himself from turning into a Magic Horror, Takeru CUTS OFF HIS OWN HAND! DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN...I guess this confirms that getting hit by cars in Garo does not give you fanfic powers like in Gokaiger. And if that wasn't bad enough, Ryuga throws himself in front of Burai, Rian, and the girl...TO BE STABBED IN THE EYES...then cut the credits on that image. I almost went blind myself from being to close to the screen. Holy Hand Grenade, that was great and that's without knowing what they're saying. PS So if Ryuga is blind and the title of the show is "The One Who Shines In Darkness"...yep, Japan sure does love it's puns >_< |

Great action, great development, hand chopping, eye gouging, what's not to like? I got to HAND it to them, they sure manage to make a great payoff after all the buildup

Ryuga lost his eyes. Takeru lost his hand. Aguri got damaged ankle. Rian became prison. It is up to Burai and Zaruba now. ![]() |

Ho.
Ly. Shit. ![]() Man, this episode was crazy. I knew Tousei was going to try to make Ryuga into a Madou Horror, but I didn't expect that sequence of events. Honestly, I was kind of thinking he'd succeed, but Ryuga would find a way to overcome it and return the armor to its full luster. But Takeru losing a hand, Ryuga going blind, Aguri being mildly inconvenienced? Did not see that coming. Even with just watching it raw, this episode really impressed me. If I had any complaints, it would be that I'm still not a big fan of going full CGI. The action is good, but it looks fake and like there's no real weight to anything. I've mostly rolled my eyes at all the bitching about no practical suits this season, but for the first time it actually has bothered me here. Burai's crazy chrome chariot was pretty pimp, though. |

OK, random theory time.
Sonshi spends part of this fight lecturing Ryuga about how Makai Knights should act, and his alternate form resembles Makai armor more than other Horrors. What if HE was Ryuga's predecessor as Garo, and his turning evil is why the Garo armor no longer shines? |

Even if Sonshi isn't the previous Garo, there's either someone before Ryuga who inherited the title or there was nobody who claim the title after Kouga for a while. BTW, just to make it clear, Ryuga is not Kouga's son, from the fact that Ryuga's mother is Makai Priestess Hakana not Kaoru and Kouga already having a son with Kaoru in one of the Garo short stories.
