Hi, new dude here. I'm looking for the next Kamen Rider show to watch. Was thinking of getting into the early Heisei era.

I've seen Kamen Rider W and Gaim all the way thru, saw the Shin Kamen Rider movie. I've also seen bits of Fourze, Wizard, first 3 episodes of Zi-o, and the first 2 episodes of Zero-One.
I'm definitely gonna watch Blacksun, but I am currently lookin for one of the mainline runs. So far Build and Kabuto look the most appealing to me. Zero-One has really good looking suits, but I just wasn't getting hooked so I'll circle back.

I'd really like the take of a more experienced fan.

Between Build and Kabuto, I would definitely recommend Build.

I second this. Don't get me wrong, watching Kabuto fight, clock up, and rider kicking is fun, but Build has the better narrative.

Check out the original 1987 show as well if possible. I won't stop you if you want to watch Black RX after it, but just know that Black and Black RX are dramatically different in terms of tone, think Fast and the Furious and the Rambo movies, where the sequels are so different from the first movies.

In this context, we can also remember Alien and Terminator. And then Saban`s Masked Rider is a further parasite on the franchise, spoiling the entire impression of its beginning.

Agreed. Kabuto actually has some of my favorite aesthetics, but when it comes to the story, Build sweeps.

Romulus is more like Black Sun. And Saban's Masked Rider is Alien Three and so on.

My personal recommendation adding to this, so many to choose from, but I suppose I'll recommend Ex-Aid this time. It's got googly eyes, chibi kamen riders, Hironobu Kageyama's voice, medical drama, all of it.
All joking aside, it's a fun show.

Some of the more recent Kamen Rider suits look like someone is making cereal mascots
That's definitely one of them.

I'm definitely gonna see how I feel after watching Build. I did wanna get thru Zero-One but it seemed like the big flying cgi mechs might be constant and I wasn't ready for that. The older series are looking really appealing because I enjoy the practical special effects more and more as I get older.

I actually haven't seen any of those, but I really enjoyed Ex-Aid and have been enjoying Geats so far (only about 12 episodes in)

Yeah, it's bright, colorful, and silly, but the story is good and much more serious than you would expect from the aesthetic. One of my favorites.

Same here. Thankfully, most Kamen Rider shows are pretty light on CGI. I think in the early 2010s they started doing a bit more CGI, but it never fully took over.

I also really enjoyed Kiva, but it has kind of a mixed reception.
