Would anyone like to see a proper Kamen Rider vs. Ultraman crossover? I know we got a short film back in the early 90's, but I would love to see a full length crossover movie. With so many characters, we could get have a huge match up of characters. I was hoping the 2014 SHT movie would be Kamen Rider X Super Sentai X Ultraman, but it looks like Toei is dropping the SHT movies now.
Just imagine the battles we could have. Some ideas for battles: Ultraman/Kamen Rider Ichigo Ultra Seven/Kamen Rider Nigo Ultraman Jack/Kamen Rider V3 Ultraman Zoffy/Riderman Ultraman Ace/Kamen Rider X Ultraman Taro/Kamen Rider Amazon Ultraman Leo/Kamen Rider Stronger Ultraman Jonias/Kamen Rider Skyrider Ultraman 80/Kamen Rider Super-1 or Kamen Rider Black RX (Both of their shows were the last show made in the Showa era) Ultraman Tiga/Kamen Rider Kuuga Ultraman Zero/Kamen Rider Decade Ultraman Ginga/Kamen Rider Gaim I won't worry about the size issue. They can have apart where Shocker makes all of the Ultraman get shrink down to human size. Last edited by Guyver Spawn; 01-08-2014 at 01:50 AM.. |

I don't think it'd quite work. Much like the SHT movies, there is a massive problem with clutter. They shove everyone in, and no one looks good because of it, making heroes who could take down armies look like weaklings and heroes who could barely save a Pringle from the can look like titans of the franchise.
If they did crossover Rider and Ultraman, I think they should start smaller, having it be [Current Ultraman who I don't know] with Gaim. We'd have a focused cast without having to shoehorn in 30 years of characters, and the action could a lot better by actually featuring our protagonists instead of one-sided and dull fights that happen in about 15 seconds with no focus other than "Yeah. That just happened. Meanwhile, back at the plot..."

I would imagine a plot for a SHT movie with Ultraman would be something like that a new version of Shocker, calling itself Ultra-Shocker plans to make a ultimate army of past Ultraman, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai monsters with the Dark Dummy Spark. Ultraman Ginga teams up with Kamen Rider Gaim, the Kyoryugers and the Tokkyugers (who will just end up having a small role).
Just imagine that we could get stuff like Ultraman Ranger Keys, spark dolls of the past Kamen Rider and Sentai monsters. Even Ultra Lock Seeds could be cool. |

Ultraman has nothing to do with Rider, nor Sentai or any other Heroes in previous crossovers of those series, so there won't be a crossover. They aren't even produced by the same company...

Believe it or not, companies can put aside differences and work together on some projects.

Plus all the video games where Gundam is in the mix. This thread is about doing a full movie on the idea rather than just a short. Personally, I think Super Sentai is the better match, but that's beside the point. Regardless, I've heard Tsuburaya is in bad shape as a company. They can barely afford to make Ultraman right now. A crossover right now would probably have to be handled completely by Toei. I'm not sure what Toei's incentive would be to do that. |

Marvel and DC did crossovers before. So anything is possible and Kamen Rider has been view as Ultraman's rival franchise for years. I would hope to see a good proper crossover.

Well, just because it happened in the past, that doesn't mean they'll do it again. To me, Toei seems to be pretty busy pushing all of their own stuff, so it's unlikely they'd be dealing with Ultraman in the near future. After all, atm SHT and the Rider movies usually re-introduce older Ishinomori stuff. And then there's Gavan as well...
If you throw them out, no problem to focus on Rider/Ultraman, but with all those different heroes... would be some chaos in the production I guess. Besides, I don't think Toei intends to stop their "let's dig out old Super Heroes and make them cool again"-trip so soon. |
