Clotho says @ 00:53 Gaelya told her that Hijiri's gonna change the world, and if succeed it will make her dream come true. What's Clotho's dream? Is it unleashing Gaelya's Dark Malgam virus and turning humans into Malgams, or back to what it used to be as visualized @ 06:07? Clotho divulging Gaelya's master plan like that makes her sound like a comic book villain. She could learn a thing or two from Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias in Watchmen (2009).
Ozymandias: "The Comedian was right. Humanity's savage nature will inevitably lead to global annihilation. So in order to save this planet, I have to trick it... With the greatest practical joke in human history."

Lachesis has finished undergoing the memory reversal process. She says @ 04:54 that the person she was modeled after was an ambitious singer with a greedy, unpleasant personality. So, now she has both the memories of the person she was modeled after and the memories as a homunculus. It's kinda like being 2 different people at once. I wonder if those overlapping memoriers will cause conflict and identity crisis later. I think this scene could be better done with a flashback, rather than a plain infodump like this which makes it look mundane and unimpactful. Kyouka is kinda low-key playing the matchmaker role @ 21:06, haha.

Gaelya calling herself a God @ 06:44 once again firmly establishes that the Unholy Trinity are Gods. Where's Gigist? He's nowhere to be seen in this episode. I wonder what he's doing in his spare time, haha. Perhaps he's looking for ways to snatch and absorb Gaelya's powers once she's defeated.

Gaelya says @ 03:56 that Hijiri is a special person chosen by the stars. What's so unique about Hijiri or her Malgam power? She's absent for 34 episodes and she's suddenly become a special person. She says @ 09:37 that she doesn't deserve to be with Kajiki, and @ 10:04 she's transformed by Gaelya into a Dark Raidenji Malgam, but this time the Malgam spawns out of the host, instead of the host being transformed. The spawn Malgam is able to regenerate as long as the host is holding on to negative emotions. It must be the destructive power of her feelings of unworthiness, guilt, shame, and self-hate that Gaelya is trying to extract as shown @ 18:31. In the end, Kajiki manages to save Hijiri and reunites with her. Soooo... All's well that ends well. I've got a fitting soundtrack for this scene and the one @ 18:46, haha.

Next week:

Gaelya is reversing the memories of the people who have witnessed Chemies and Malgams. She's also restoring all forms of evidence, so now people who recorded, wrote, or talked about Chemies/Malgams is getting their data/information back. I wonder what's her goal by doing this. Is she trying to create chaos by instigating a three-way conflict between Muggles, alchemists, and Chemies/Malgams? The AA members will be the scapegoats and the Muggles finally manage to locate their hideout. I'm curious to see how the AU's top brasses respond to this unexpected situation. I hope they'll at least conveniently reappear for the sake of plot and do something, not sitting comfortably on their throne like they did in previous episodes. The AU/AA continues to be a huge yet hollow organization.

And does it mean that Houtarou's (and probably also his mom's) manipulated memories will also be affected by Gaelya's plot and is now completely recovered? Will Houtarou's true past be finally revealed? I'm curious to see Houtarou's dad and the circumstances of his disappearance, the identity of the the Alchemist of Dawn, and the possibility of the connection between Houtarou, his dad, and the Alchemist of Dawn.

Spanner will debut his formal alchemist uniform.

Out of my expectation, Akiko Inoue returns to writing duty for episode 45, and likely for episode 46 as well. This means that Hiroki Uchida could also return for episode 47-48 or 49-50. It's almost the final episode but I'm not getting a climactic vibe at all. Some people said that Gotchard is losing steam near the end of the story, but I disagree. Gotchard has never lost steam because it has never had it in the first place. I patiently waited for the story to build up the momentum, but my wait didn't pay off because the writers didn't even try to develop and elaborate the story. The writers finally realized that it was almost episode 40 and scrambled to retcon and convolute the internal logic, but it doesn't do much since there's not much time left. The story is entering the climax/payoff stage, but the writers are doing what they should've done during the setup stage a long, long time ago. If the story has reached the last 20% and I'm still messing with the internal logic, then it only means one thing: I screw up. So yeah, the momentum is gone and is virtually impossible to regain.

Three words that best describe Gotchard's story:
Hollow, vapid, and lethargic.

So Galejah bet on Hijiri because of the nature of her malgamation. If ordinary malgams from scoundrels give up after receiving blows, then Hijiri is driven by anger and despair, and therefore continues the battle. Luckily, Kajiki's love and acceptance saves her again. But Galejakh took this into account and she already has a new plan ready. Honestly, she demonstrates the most effective use of the prophetic gift I have ever seen.
Also, Lachesis is now almost human and presents a new personality, a mixture of the original and the "doll" whose memories she shares. And, apparently inspired by Kajiki and Hijiri, as well as comments from viewers, the writers decided to make the couple Spanner and Lachesis canon.
Geryon convinces Clotho that he is ready to take back not only her, but also Lachesis, but the latter’s vision (memory?) hints that he should not be trusted.
This episode also showed the negative side of memory erasing: those subjected to it are doomed to repeat the same mistakes under the same circumstances.
Also, apparently, to explain that the situation is not at all clear-cut, in the next episodes the problem will be exactly the opposite. If the story of Kajiki and Hijiri showed the harm of erased memories, then the time will come to deal with the consequences of their return. Will the evil wrestler and journalists return to the alchemist base again? It's very interesting what will happen next.
P.S. The ending with fireworks is incredibly cute. I'm also glad that there was room for a UFO in the episode.

Clotho's more vulnerable here, and indeed her primary desire is for the Dark Sisters to be together again. She appears to be more respectful towards Geryon compared to the Abyssail Kings or specifically Germain. Gaelijah continues Germain's goal of making humans act towards their nature, albeit not as dramatically as him. The climax of this series starts now with her spreading the Malgam extracts to the masses through a podcast that exposes the memories and elements the Academy tries to hide.

Hijiri feels undeserving of Kajiki's affection because of her relation to Tsurugi and her time as a Malgam. Obviously, Kajiki was present when she was a Malgam back in ep. 10. At first Hijiri was in denial of her being a monster, due to Chemy's Law making her forget, but while someone accepting their darker aspects is good, Hijiri went to the opposite extreme instead by making herself an outcast due to knowing her darker aspects. And she still loves her brother in the end despite wanting to get revenge on him, but the malice is only really gone after feeling she's accepted.

So Chemy's Law is definitely the root cause of this problem (albeit Gaelijah accelerated it to show Hijiri that) as Hijiri forgot that Kajiki already reached out to her as a Malgam and a direct one too in her producing Malgams here. Kajiki's memory being returned and not erased again is what allows him to remind Hijiri of the events of ep. 10. It's clear that Kajiki cares very much about her to risk his life to reach out to her, and this care might extend to anyone he has a strong attachment to, although it's uncertain whether this applies to those he doesn't have a strong attachment to (either due to being too afraid or not caring much) similar like Keitaro, Shunpei, or Onari.

Finally, this realization gets through to Minato that he wants to honor Suzuya's wish of prioritizing society's well-being over the law. Now, there's someone similar in Houtaro who's still alive and ahead to achieve it. Lachesis' memory reveal inspires her to have a goal to strive for, much like the cruel singer she's modeled after. Guess admirable doesn't necessarily mean redeeming, just that, many of the cruelest people in history also had big ambitions, their 'gotcha' (of course... something Ghost glorified like claiming Nobunaga had humane side too as excuse).

Reminds me of how Sento still believed in love and peace after regaining Katsuragi's memories. After all, memories are information, but we can decide what we do with them. That seems to be the theme of this arc. I understand Lachesis' feeling, about how she respects that selfish person, as wanting to reach people with her singing voice isn't a bad thing. A desire like that is proof of being alive and as long as it doesn't bring harm to others, it should be encouraged.

Yeah, I totally wouldn't trust Geryon. He doesn't want Clotho working with his competition, so he only tells her what she wants to hear, so he can manipulate her. Poor Clotho is being used by all the Dark Kings.

This scene reminds me of Drive Saga Mach with Gou declaring that he will protect Reiko even though she's the child of a monster and that she deserves a chance at happiness. The main difference is that Kajiki is presumably not a child or sibling of a monster, but his heroic determination to protect Hijiri is the same. Kajiki asking for Hijiri's bad memories to be erased and Hijiri choosing to live with both good and bad memories show the power of their love for each other and was another scene where I couldn't help but smile.

Being greedy and cruel sounds like the certainty of them bringing harm to others. Not in physical attacks like toku villains do but in how she's cutthroat type to employ dog-eat-dog situation and likely do anything to reach the top without caring if she'd harm others in the process.

I feel bitter that the display of determination to protect, done by males (like Kajiki here), is praised as heroism, but females are never referred as that or have this part of them swept under the rug even if they're well-received (albeit yes most of the female active Riders are the morally ambiguous type, while many of the straight up heroic ones are one-time like Kanon Spectre), Like for instance, things like empathy, gentleness, caring, tolerance, sensitivity, nurturance, or compassion are dismissed as relegating females as stereotypes, rather than acknowledging how it can lead to true heroism because heroism would need them to be in touch to people.
