Caught a TV listing for this tonight and I did a little digging…yup from the same company that brought us the 'masterpiece' Transmorphers…looks like they're riffing Pacific Rim now:

It would be kinda amusing if they knocked off the movie using actual suits and stuff. But no, it's generic AND a rip off.

Looks like the Asylum was given a lot bigger budget then Transmorphers since this looks better then any CGI the Asylum has done before.

Given that Asylum don't often get the credit they deserve, especially when you learn their reasons for making the mockbusters I try my hardest to subtract myself from all the hate and try and enjoy their movies on their own merits...Atlantic Rim however, eh... I'm a big fan of characters, and the central trio of this film were all douchebags in their own right which made it really difficult for me to enjoy this.

Plus it really was just an all round poorly made film, I promise you not everything made by the Asylum is this sloppily put together or poorly paced. Most of all though is that it all feels like a waste because the actual story was pretty interesting.
