Something's really been eating me about Gaim. We know now that the first scene with the armies is a flashforward, not a flashback. And there's one particular bit in the opeing, near the very beginning, when Kota is locked behind the gate while another version of him holds the lock and ignores his frantic screaming.
This, obviously, is symbolising a part of him, maybe his future self in hindsight or whatever, screaming in vain to his past self to not accept the lock seed. Yet the show itself, in the first three episodes, shows Kota having tons of fun as Gaim. And when not-Mai warned him, he accepted without seriously considering her words because he was in mid battle. What do you think is going to happen to make Kota regret becoming Gaim so badly? The creators, specifically Urobuchi, said the show is going to take a dark turn... |

Well if theories about the first monster end up ringing true, I guess that is pretty much every reason Kouta needs to realise how much this shit isn't a joke, and to really start hating what he's got himself into.

It seems clear to me that the whole Rider business is corrupt, and so is the Invess game. Kouta was introduced as a very likable guy, so perhaps the whole Rider business will start to creep up and change him. We've seen bits of that already in episode 3. The show will be about how Kouta holds on to his goodness in spite of the evil around him. That's what I'm guessing anyway.

That the dance captain ate one of the fruits, and became the monster. So basically Gaim's first victory of the series, was murdering his friend.

In the first episode Kouta is introduced as a person who is trying to be responsible and help everyone as demonstrated in the scene with the little kid. After he got his powers he slowly starts to get away from that. Now the only thing he wants to do is winning in the Invess games and show off his new awesome powers. Thats what I think the scene with his sister in episode 3 tried to show us (even though it was very vague and poorly executed). Eventhough he has this great power and can benefit from it the only one he is helping with it is himself. Something in the vein of the classic "with great power comes great responsibility" line from Spider-Man. |
