The team behind SDCC has decided not to hold the 2020 convention due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic.

I would assume it was a question of money - not the money from the customers, but money in cancellation payments they'd have to make. Cancelling major events is expensive.

Even if things are better by summertime, it's still better to be safe than sorry. I bet Otakon and Evo will be cancled next.
