I really liked JF. I was kind of dissapointed that it was one of the shorter 32 episode seasons but the condensed plot may have helped it in the long run. Like others, I think that RJ kind of stole the show. He's up there with Doggie Krueger as my favorite mentor.

Well, I think it kinda gets to me, because it was the last series I watched then got out of, until the start of Super Samurai last year

I decided to give V.R. Troopers a shot and have watched the first 5 episodes on Netflix. Despite the fact that episodes were spliced together from 2 (or was it 3?) different shows, they flow pretty well.

Boy do I despise that dog though. I guess in an otherwise more serious kid's show they needed to have some kind of comedic relief.

VR Troopers is made up of footage from Metalder and Spielban. Later on it added Shaider footage when they Metalder well ran dry.

I haven't seen the show myself, but I know that the talking dog is actually a thing that was in the original Metalder.

Ok, so I did remember that factoid correctly. I think it was briefly discussed earlier in this thread, but I do want maybe try finding a few episodes of the original shows to see how it was adapted.

Does anyone know of any decent subs that exist of Metalder or Spielban?

DFF subbed most of Metalder. There's a link to the scripts over at HJU and the raws shouldn't be too hard to find It's a fantastic show and well worth watching.

I think DFF did an episode or two of Spielban, but other than that it's as unsubbed as every other Metal Heroes show.
