It's strange- in Japan, the Decepticons were known as the Destrons. In Kamen Rider V3, Kazami Shirou witnessed a murder by the evil organization Destron, who then tried to have him killed because of this, eventually leading to the death of his family and Shirou's reconstruction into Kamen Rider V3. So why would the V3 Decepticon be a Decepticon?

I don't know, maybe I was just showing off my Kamen Rider knowledge. It's still quite amusing, I must say.

Considering he's bumming around with the Deluxe Insecticons, chances are he was just a generic bugbot before the colourist thought "hey I think I'm gonna-" that or V3, in addition to having become completely robotic, alien and giant-sized and having somehow hooked up with Lockdown, failed to get the translation. Afterall he's in the US comics continuity. "Destrons" don't exist there.
