I don't hate them, hell my favorite Pokemon of all time is a Fire/Fighting. But the thing is, they're overdone and by gen 5 i think game freak was doing it to annoy the freaking hell out of us.

Most don't. It's having three Fire/Fighting starters in a row - four if you consider Black 2/White 2, as they were also main games - that quickly caused people to tire of them. There's nothing wrong with them... Most, including myself, just don't want the starter to be one again.

I want Fire/Fighting beyond the starters. I also want Grass/Ground and Water/Steel to go beyond the starters.
