My first was MMPR and although I wasn't a die hard fan until I became an adult - take from that, what you will - I've followed Power Rangers on and off pretty much from the very beginning. Initially because it was fun to play in the playground but then later because Power Rangers is actually a very unappreciated storytelling platform. Well, everything with Time Force and beyond at least. I've tried rewatching the classic Saban stuff and between the amateurish acting, non existent budget and cut and paste editing it's pretty damn awful.
I dunno which one was my first favourite, at the time, as a kid, I loved pretty much every season but that is kinda how it goes. As I got older, Time Force was about the only early season from Saban I could watch time and time again and not have the nostalgia rug from under me. And since it actually has genuinely good stories and acting, it's a series I eventually fell in love with. RPM was what brought me back as a diehard fan. It was around the time of Mystic Force that I stopped watching, as I went to college and then eventually Uni and started living more of a life. But after hearing so much good stuff about RPM I knew I had to watch it, and my inner child was born again. In terms of the more inevitable debate, no I didn't go away and watch sentai and write off Power Rangers. Unpopular opinion, but to me Sentai is just as much aimed at children, and struggles from all the same problems as Power Rangers - if not some unique ones of its own, with Japan's drawn out melodramatic structuring of their stories. I've watched every Power Rangers season at least twice, most sentai I can't get through once.

RPM. Time Force a VERY close second.

My first was the first season. It was great.
Well...Great is an overstatement. More like...Entertaining. Yeah, let's go with that. I can't in good faith call MMPR great. Makes me feel unclean. I still had fun watching it, no doubt, though. I watched Power Rangers consistently from MMPR S1 all the way to Mystic Force. Operation Overdrive was just too grating to sit through in it's entirety, and Jungle Fury I had a hard time actually catching, so when RPM came around, I had resigned to just not bothering since the air schedule was impossible to follow and constantly preempted for every little random piece of shit sports game to air that day (Since RPM aired when most networks started effectively phasing out the Saturday morning block). For a favorite, it's, hands down, Time Force. It's one of the few PR seasons to still hold up today, with competent acting (Even forgettable characters like Lucas are still played by decent actors), a good villain, and an amazing story that doesn't treat it's audiences like they can't operate a safety cap. It was handled so well it makes me surprised when I remember that Time Force was a Saban season. However, I would be remiss if I didn't make special note of Turbo. Despite being widely reviled and hailed as "2nd Lowest Point in PR history," it's heartbreaking to know that not many (If any) are even willing to give it the time of day to see if it's as bad as they're told it was. I'm not blind to it's flaws, but it's really not as bad as a lot remember (Most especially since many don't even remember what happened beyond the damn pizza). |

I agree. The cast change was a very welcome change.

Shame Saban took until half the season to do it.

My only issue with Turbo into Zeo (Other than Turbo being the worst Saban season until he laid the egg of Samurai on us) was that they never explained what happened to their powers. They just up and changed.

People think Turbo and Samurai are worse than Megaforce? Wow. I kinda assumed after Megaforce, we'd all be hanging out in the 'cancer of the franchise, let's never speak of this show again' treehouse.

...How? Turbo was good for what it was, and Samurai, at least it had a story.
