Mobile Suit Gundam compilation movie 1.
So this is the fabled Universal Century huh? I'm not impressed quite yet. LOL. But seriously though, I kinda like series so far. Granted, the story is super slowly paced, but it was '79/'81 when this movie was made came and it was setting up the whole Gundam thing for future series. Modern shows and movies have defiantly upped the pacing a lot but this is fine as it is. I kinda like Amuro Ray? I say that with a question mark because while he's pretty good at piloting this Gundam I'm not quite sure why I should like him from a character aspect. I think the only reason why I have any attachment to him outside of me by default having to like Gundam pilots is that he's around my age and he has a cute girlfriend/childhood friend. Fraw Bow is the obligatory female supporting character to the main hero that always appears in the Japanese action show meta franchises and she's.... fine. She contributes to the ship, helps Amuro out, she is loving and accepting, sort of standard stuff for that type of character. What I really find different is how much time they spend on deck with the main crew of the white base.Hell, Amuro isn't even present at most of these scenes and its strong unique characters for this area that take the spotlight. Really gives it a lot more of a Star Trek vibe. I'm not too keen on this Char guy. He hasn't done too much and his claim to fame so far is getting Amuro while he was still inexperienced. I understand from a plot point of view how having this rival guy is such an easy way to create an arc and give reasons for battle and drama, but this is the guy that started it all? He'd better kick some ass next time I see him. I thought this movie was going to look horrible from an animation standpoint, but it doesn't look half bad. I've actually grown to like the Guntank and Guncannon. I still don't like the RX-78 Gundam design though. However, they really do emphasize how much of a beast this thing is by pointing out shocking new features and how powerful it is. I like the action during fight scenes. I mean its not super fast action but theres enough happening to satisfy my taste. I'm fine with the small scale battles since they're done so well and so tense. Kill la Kill 14.
Well that was silly, I think this shows charms are running out for me a little. I dunno, the fact that NONE of the other schools even put up a fight kinda summed up all the problems in this show. The complete lack of tangible threats, makes this show really kinda boring at times. I get the sliding scale is just as problematic in otherways but this isn't a long show, but out of the 14 episodes I've watched pretty much all of the crucial battles have been rubbish, and the more fillerly ones have been much more entertaining. This episode also had some of the cheapest animation of the whole series. Which obviously didn't help.

HeartCatch Precure episode 5:
It was alright. It seems to be following the standard Sentai MOTW formula. I know it's pretty early on, but would it kill these two to follow the person whose Heart Flower is wilting? Especially when Chypre said "Hey, his Heart Flower isn't looking too well"? It would save these two a lot of trouble. Anyway, since I'm watching this in HD now...I'm noticing how rough the backgrounds look. I don't know if this is and intentional design choice, or if there wasn't enough money in the animation budget to refine them. Also, Cobraja is kind of funny. He's also voiced by the same guy who voiced Walz Gill, which is cool. ![]()

So while I wait for the next episode of Kill La Kill, I shall be watching Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

The only reason I stopped watching it is I caught up the show and I'm really impatient with weekly anime. If it's now finished I might grab a batch torrent and smash it out.

That show's kinda great, the animation isn't great and it's kinda slow moving, but I always love it when I get epic action out of a show I never expect to get it from. Sorta reminded me of One Piece, in a way, with the way that show flips between Dragonball Z and some relaxed, fantasy adventure show.
