The problem with Agito is, again, the guise of quality is there. There's still something for people to latch onto and think it's good. But the story? God did it. The characters? Cutouts. The designs? Actually the designs were fucking awesome. Quote:
It still holds up as one of my all-time favorites after two full watches and having seen almost every other series in the franchise start to finish. Honestly, the only two Rider shows I like more are Black and the good part of Hibiki.
I don't. Quote:
And there's a reason why nobody talks about Faiz. It's a show that ends by burning off any goodwill it may have created and then practically kicking the viewer in the happy-sack on the way out.
If Faiz left that much of a sour taste, it's no surprised people swarmed Agito. Same reason people think Transformers Energon starts off good. It doesn't, but most people maintain that, simply because a great number of them disliked Armada. Quote:
The area had been evacuated beforehand because Godai was afraid of what would happen when he used the Rising Mighty kick. And from this point onwards they always made it a point to lure enemies into secluded areas before using that finisher. The moment did lead to the police having second thoughts about their association with him, though, as well as some bad press.

I love that "Well EVERYONE says" exaggeration because I seem to remember everyone said the world was flat and despite being the popular opinion that didn't make it the right one.

Oh. Oh man. Is this what it feels like to be a Kiva fan when I start relentlessly trashing it? Damn it, karma. ![]() |

Look, I just felt that other series (Kiva) had way more nonsensical things worth getting worked up about. Then again, when you mentioned had mentioned planet kicking, I envisioned something different. Quote:
It's called suspension of disbelief. It's the same way I can accept that a man can fly and have super speed, but not that he can juggle moons.
Logistics still work within absurd concepts. You can visualise someone turning into a superhero. You can visualise them kicking and killing a monster. You cannot, in any way that does not look ridiculously implausible, visualise them destroying a planet by KICKING it. |

Wasn't referring to you. Your dislikes are usually well reasoned.

I'd assume it was initially popular because of its culture place but that doesn't explain how people are still watching it today, while still being ignorant of the shows many, many, many failings.
I read on another forum that Kuuga is like a great band's first EP. Sure, it's raw and not always good -- but it shows flashes of excellence that would be actualized in later series. I'm already in love with KR, so I'm not worried about not liking it. I'm just very interested in seeing the genesis of this new era of KR. |

Sure I can, if hey started off from space and launched a flying kick at a planet at high speed.
Then he'd just crash into the planet. He'd maybe make a huge crater or something, but no, he wouldn't destroy our beloved Urf. Urf is huge. Most people cannot fathom the size of our planet, though they may think they do. That doesn't explain why it's considered the best. Last edited by SPLIT LIP; 03-19-2014 at 04:27 PM.. |
