Given that Hope uses her mother's surname instead of his...

Personally, I think Hank accidentally shrunk Janet down into the Microverse, causing Hank and Hope to believe that he had killed her, Hope taking the name "Van Dyne" to honor her mother. That way, Janet isn't dead, but it causes enough conflict between the remainder of her family.

It's just he's been a favorite of mine since Ultimate Avengers*the movies not the god awful comics* and EMH*still bitter it got canned* and the little I saw of him in 616 he was decent enough plus Wolverine,Reed and Stark have been forgiven after doing far worse then Hank hitting his wife during a mental breakdown.
