I don't think so. It added good depth to Hyde's character and it was nice to have a death that wasn't miraculously resolved in any way.

How did they kill him for no reason? There was a reason. It was for Hyde to have character development. Its not like GoseiGreen was an established character they suddenly killed out of the blue. It was just a flashback or two in one episode and thats it.

Okay, so then why did he "die for no reason" as you put it? Because that's not how it is. He died to further advance the characterization of Hyde. Hell he died before the show even began. They didn't even have to show us how he died but they did anyway.
