Fox has been saying this movie is in its own universe since before any other details were announced about it.

I disagree. Bill Nye would basically be playing himself if he was cast as Reed Richards. And Tyson's voice could easily be modulated to make it sound more like the Thing.

They might not be actors, but in the highly improbable scenario in which Bill Nye and Neil DeGrassse Tyson are cast as Reed Richards and Ben Grimm, respectively, they could very easily prepare for the roles. After all, we don't necessarily know the full extent of their acting abilities.

They did that with Michael Chiklis. And, if I remember correctly, one of the complaints that many people had was the lack of voice modulation for Jamie Bell's the Thing.

Again, this is a completely hypothetical scenario that, in actuality, would probably never happen. I just think it'd be cool to have actual scientists play the Fantastic Four.

But if that's the case, and Chiklis was just doing a voice, then Tyson could just as easily do that, too, in this hypothetical and improbable scenario in which Neil DeGrasse Tyson takes time out of his very busy schedule to act in a superhero movie alongside Bill Nye.

Well, to be fair, everyone has a different vocal range. Just because Chiklis is able to produce a certain voice, there is no guarantee Tyson would be able to. Also, while I like the idea of getting people involved in film who understand the fields presented, this idea seems to undercut the whole point of actors. And, personally, I've never been a fan of stunt casting. I like the enthusiasm, though.

That's understandable. Really, having Bill Nye and Mike Tyson as Reed and Ben is something I think would be better suited as an extended cameo rather than a full-length film. Sort of in the same vein as Michael Douglas's Hank Pym, where they were active as superheroes in the past but have retired since then. If Marvel Studios ever gets the rights back to the Fantastic Four, I think that would be an interesting way to use them.
