Ugh what a mistake they made. After the hype Pokemon Go has had and bringing back older fans into the franchise, basing the first live action movie on this is already a disaster.

I think it's the best decision. It's a movie that features the Pokemon as a star, and not some random kid running around ordering them to do this or that.

Then they should've done one based on Mystery Dungeon if they wanted a Pokemon to be the main star, but that wouldn't work since this is supposed to be a live action movie.

A lot of people thought a live action movie would be based on the anime since more people are familiar with the TV show than anything else.

I would've preferred this route, but for a live action picture, I think Detective Pikachu is still the best option since the leads will be a Pokemon and a human.

The anime doesn't need live action movies, it already gets movies. Let the games make it to the big screen for once.
