Y'know, when Iron Man wanted to show RDJ's face, they just cut to his face inside the suit.
I still can't get behind the decision to open the masks up while in the zords. It looks so bad.

It's not THAT odd a direction to go for this franchise.

You say that as if it's not horribly ugly there, either.
It's a bad look, regardless of whichever series uses it. The only time it didn't look fuck ugly was Lightspeed Rescue, and only then because half of their face was still covered up by their mouth guards or whatever.

Eh, I'd argue that's really stupid, the movie's done a lot of things that fans aren't happy with and a reboot's meant to introduce an old classic to new audiences, so if the critics slam it, most people will not bother anymore. If it gets lots of positive attention by critics, people would be more inclined to watch

Then I'm stupid. Because everytime I see a movie that the critics give a bad rating to, I've thoroughly enjoyed. So please, insult me some more for expressing my opinion and sharing my own experiences.
