Same thing goes the other way though, there’s no reason for it to be R-rated if something was originally made to be PG-13. And Carnage wasn't originally made to be R-rated; he appeared in comic books for kids and teenagers. He was violent, but the violence happened off-panel or it was simply not as graphical.

Hell, the goriest thing Carnage did during his first appearance was to write "Carnage Rules!" on a wall using his own blood. That Carnage can easily be adapted with the same ratings as all the other Marvel movies since the level of violence is about the same.

Of course a movie featuring Carnage could benefit a lot from an R-rating, don't get me wrong, but saying a PG-13 Carnage would be "god-awful" when he was exactly that in the first place is stupid. It can work.

Also, you can still be pretty violent without an R Rating. Case and point Kamen Rider. Ouja is a character in a kids show, a serial killer who brutally murders people and recently beat the everloving shit out of Emu (Ex-Aid but not transformed) with a metal pipe and dumped his face in chemicals. It can be toned down, it just depends on how badly. Again 90's Spidey was actually surprisingly good with Carnage, he's still a maniac who wants to kill

Venom's been VERY toned down in lots of appearances but he's STILL a fan favourite, and Deadpool's proven to be capable of being popular despite but toned down on the killing part

That happened on a fan club-only webisode, not the show itself though. Even in Japan I doubt that would fly on the actual show.

Yeah, but PG-13 is limit on how far that they go. I know Carnage has been in mostly PG-13 level comics, but I think a R rating would do justice to his character in my opinion.

It is a FACT Carnage would benefit from an R rating, but again, nothing wrong with PG-13. Hell, in England, there is 12,15 and 18 ratings and in the Netherlands, we only go up to 16, so does America not have anything in between?
Personally I don't mind PG-13 on a single condition, they manage to be subtle with their stuff whereas it's still horrifying

Carnage was always a very dark character and they could do something more dark and deeper with character at a R rating. R rating does not always mean blood and gore to the max. They could be rated R for the themes in the story due to the subject matter.

I love Carnage, but let's not kid ourselves here. There's nothing "deep" about him - he's a deranged serial killer and that's about it. If he was in an R-rated film, it would ENTIRELY be just for blood and gore.
