It depends on designs and aesthetics. A friend sent me Bruce Timm (Batman TAS) fanart of Evangelion and I was absolutely horrified by that mess.

I think Prime is not a bad choice to get into the series. I like it had a darker tone to it while still be okay for kids. Steve Blum does a great job as Starscream in my opinion.

Trust me, it's not an act...

I liked The Last Knight for the most part. More than Age of Extinction at any rate, which is still I think my least favorite of the series. I definitely still had a lot of problems with it and it's by no means a great film. But had fun watching it.
