The Dopant designs are complex enough that I wouldn't be surprised if some amount of CGI is used for them too.

I would rater have Sentai Filmworks dub this anime and not Funimation, to be honest. I'm not a fan of Funimation because they mostly do a bad job on marketing their anime that is not a big name title and their translations are still questionable at times. Even their home video releases are 50/50 (As seen with Dragon Ball).
