Of course you would. I imaging going balls the walls if any one of the villains was wearing Yodonna's uniform or Yodonna wearing a gear.

And then just for giggles, imma recommend Schwarzesmarken. I'm not too fond of it myself, but is still a very interesting watch. And also Spec Ops Asuka.

Just basically some with some grit in it. I personally found the last very cool, more so cuz I read the manga.

Oh, I do like a bit of German language window dressing. I'm adding this to my burgeoning list of things to look up/look into. I'm sort of considering buying the Rayearth laserdiscs right now, so it might take me some time to get to this though.

Yep, yep! We did get an English release around March of 2020, sadly that was poorly timed given well, everything that happened so I think that might've impacted how it did since well... it shut down like in May or June of 2020. Which is a shame because briefly skimming there's all these cool stories that are left untranslated.

It's also how I got into Symphogear because they did a special promotion deal with Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll put up Season's 1, G, and GX on Youtube so you could marathon it. It was neat. And then I watched AXZ and XV on Crunchyroll after I was done with those.

Big O is honestly one of my favorite anime's of all time, up there with Cowboy Bebop too. There was something so charming and enamoring about it when I first saw it on Cartoon Network. Also got to see the second half like dozens of times since Adult Swim would re-run that half constantly.

I'm honestly not sure, but Exkaiser if I recall ended up being born from a canned Transformers series. Heck the main villain force, the Geisters, are basically repurposed Dinobots from what I remember.

It just has that fun old Toku Feel where you've got this alien Exkaiser learning about various things about Earth and that ties into the plot of the episode. And usually that plot is the villains be going after various objects that make themselves known to them. Whether it be stuff like Super Fire Trucks, a high tech plane to stuff like... stealing anything that helps you cool off in summer like ice cream and beer... or even, at one point... cigarettes. It's a real fun show and it has a great Opening that's a bop that I'm required to link.

Voltron is an adaption of "Beast King GoLion" from Toei; The Brave franchise is made by Takara in partnership with Sunrise.

It is not based on a canceled Transformers series; its origins are however tied to Transformers. After "Transforms Victory" ended the series was on all all-time low in popularity, Transformers had long ended in the US and one last attempt at reviving the brand, an OVA called "Transformers Zone" was ultimately cancelled.

After that Takara sought out a partnership with Sunrise to develop a new franchise to market toys with, that was what would become Brave. It still features transforming robots but is not related to Transformers directly, although since Takara owned the rights they did remold and/or repaint a few Transformers toys and sold them under the Brave banner.

I have only seen two Brave shows; they are pretty good but ultimately a bit more on the generic side. But when you crave for some 90’s super robot anime this hits the spot.

OH GOSH! This opening! If I had seen this as a kid, I would have become a lifelong fan! I can clearly see those Transformers elements—I remember first seeing clips of Zone and Victory, and I can clear see the overlap here—but the variety of the human cast seems really intriguing, their designs seem really reminiscent of a lot of stuff like the World Masterpiece Theatre shows I liked when younger.

This was done by the same studio that brought us Gatchaman or Battle Of The Planets for the English-speaking fans of the disco era. The protagonist was voiced by Toshiyuki Morikawa aka Torin from Kyoryuger and the heroine was voiced by Rei Ayanami herself Megumi Hayashibara. And the archnemesis was Dio Brando.
