Alright this is getting weird. So Netflix keeps recommending narco docudramas since it reasonably believes that's all I watch, and I just got bamboozled by an ad on the home screen for Pablo Escobar: El Patron del Mal and recognized two actors who were on Narcos for very different roles- namely Mauricio MejÃ*a, who was Carlos Castaño in Narcos, but Pablo in, well, Pablo.

AND THEN it turns out he's played Escobar in A LOT of stuff, including El Chapo and American Made. So apparently these narco series just have a stable of actors that switch roles every show or so. It is weird.

I'm watching Kiva right now, where one of the main characters was Zanki in Hibiki a few years earlier, and his rival would play Grease in Build a few years later.

Nothing you're talking about sounds surprising to me at all.
