See I thought 3 was a fantastic ending. But don't get me wrong - despite finding it unnecessary, I still had an absolute blast watching The Final.

Made it to episode 13 of Shinkenger. Wow, it's quite the gripping story. Seeing such a strong team dynamic form over the course of these episodes and coming head to head with interpersonal conflict about their different views on their roles has drawn me right in.
It's an incredibly stylish show, I just love watching Takeru/Shinken Red fight. Only character I'm not too big a fan of is Hikoma - sometimes I feel he's kind of a mean spirited character with the intended slap-stick of Chiaki. Doukoku is a bit one-note, but I totally get that's the point and Juzo is a compelling character with dare I say it... aura. Overall, Shinkenger is quite the choice for a first Sentai and I can see why it's so popular.

Yes, it's a great show. What's interesting is how the team's relationships develop very gradually. And yes, Shinkenger is good for new viewers. More experienced fans were slightly disappointed that after the unusual start, the show becomes more like a standard Super Sentai. Although this is entirely justified by the plot and concept.

Jii may appear mean sometimes, since he's the strict type of mentor, but he really just wants to help the Shinkengers. Act 10 is a good example of this, as he realizes not everybody learns like Takeru so he thinks about how to teach Chiaki the meaning of his scriptomancy in a way he will understand. Honestly, I think Jii is similar to Ryunosuke.

Gavan Infinity starts tomorrow, so I just watched Tega Sword of Resurrection!
The first half is basically just a series of No.1 Battles condensed in to a montage format, sans the morals that make No.1 Battles worth watching. But once we get to Tega Sword's core, we learn about Pestis' motivation for poisoning Tega Sword and this is where it becomes thematically interesting. Similar to Lex, Pestis gives his own reason for why humans don't deserve to live and should be eradicated by Calamity. He complains that their united wish for a savior 10000 years ago, the origin of Tega Sword, has since degraded in to many frivolous wishes due to the current peaceful world making them spoiled and hedonistic and weakening Tega Sword. Hoeru promptly calls him out on this, arguing that more wishes makes the world exciting and this is actually the strength of Gozyuger and Tega Sword. It's like a Super Sentai No.1 Battle, tearing apart Pestis' shallow idea of what a Sentai should be, always conforming, no conflict, no room for development. Gozyuger shows that the strength of Sentai is not only in their teamwork, but also in their individual differences, which is a great moral for the show, both on its own and as the last installment in the franchise. The climax is pretty unique. We get to see Tega Sword Origin in action and an army of Red Rangers big enough to make Zenkaiger's summer movie eat its own title. The latter does rely heavily on obscure fanservice though, with many of the Reds apparently being celebs IRL that most western viewers aren't going to get excited about. Overall, I enjoyed it. Was it a match for Adventure Heaven? Well, not really, but I'd say it was still more than adequate for what I would expect of the final Sentai summer movie. Probably my second favorite of Reiwa. Super Sentai Forever! Welcome Project RED!
