I wanted to share something that may be interesting for Kamen Rider Ryuki fans.
Satoshi Matsuda, who played Ren Akiyama / Kamen Rider Knight, is currently working on an English translation of his own book. He has said that he would like feedback from English-speaking fans to help make the translation sound natural and convey the right nuances. He seems to be posting updates about the project on X, so if anyone here is interested, it might be worth checking out and leaving feedback or words of support. Official X: https://x.com/Matsuda_satoshi Latest post about the translation: https://x.com/Matsuda_satoshi/status...91041662152832 I thought this could be a nice opportunity for international Ryuki fans to support him directly. |

So if it's an autobiographical novel, I guess this is his 8 Mile, pretty much, in the sense that it's a fictional novel based on his life. Side note, if they ever adapt this to live-action, I think we all know who's playing Matsuda/Matsuda-equivalent protagonist.
![]() Real talk, though, had the late great Robert Baldwin (aka Sazer Gordo and Ramirez/Kyoryu Cyan) been still alive he would've been perfect for this task, because iirc he also did translation work at times apart from acting. Personally, I think he should seek a professional translator, though I understand where he's coming from, as he wants to deliver the nuances only tokusatsu fans are likely to identify easily but a professional may not catch it right away because they might not be well-versed in the genre, no matter how fluent.

I genuinely think projects like this help older fandoms stay alive because they create new ways for longtime fans and younger audiences to connect across languages. There’s something quietly fascinating about seeing actors revisit their legacy years later instead of distancing themselves from it, especially in fandom spaces built on trust and discussion like Subway Surfers City communities.
