Besides, just because the guy said he was Tuxedo Kamen, it doesn't mean he is- either he's OOC, because it's a parody or, which is also likely as it happens often in the Manga, he was someone pretending to be Tuxedo Kamen. We can't even recognize exactly who he is because the facial features are simplified- but due to Chibiusa's reaction, it is pretty likely it isn't even Mamoru.

Judging a whole manga by a small comic-strip is pretty weak. If you don't have arguments to undermine your opinion of the manga being bad that do actually take place in the main storyline, you shouldn't wonder why people say that you are wrong.

Excuse me? I've been giving points throughout the entire debate to do with the main story, where the heck are you coming from? I was just pointing out that Dr. Kain's objection to Usagi's nakedness in the final battle is hypocritical compared to that scene in the manga.

And don't even bother trying jumping through loop holes; it was DEFINITELY Mamoru. Chibiusa says "Mamoru you're awful" and previously in the chapter Mamoru got a nose-bleed at the sight of these super sexy 11 year olds. Or was Usagi on a date with someone who might not have been Mamoru because of the art? Despite the fact that the main story also frequently changes to "chibified" if it suits to mood.

So your argument is "Yes, this official story had Mamoru getting a nose-bleed at the sight of 11 year olds and then later lifted the skirts of those said 11 Year olds but its totally OK because its position in canon is debatable". No, its still awful.

But yes, comparatively the manga is worse then the anime for the reasons I've detailed earlier including the confused story telling, the under developed or entirely undeveloped characters, the absolutely terrible action scenes and the characterisation of some characters, especially Princess Serenity and that the StarS arc was one long over complex, bleak, trying too hard to be dark, boring trudge. This was just an extra tidbit due to the "Naked Angel Usagi is SO WRONG" when the manga was fine with much worse.

Is the Manga awful? No. Is it necessarily bad? Not always. But compared to the anime, I think the anime's a clear winner. It had a far better grasp on its characters and, in my opinion, was far better at giving a satisfactory story outside of SuperS's fillers. That's why I'm hoping the new anime is not super accurate like has been claimed and instead does its own thing with the source material as the anime and PGSM did.

I just found out that the original sailor moon is getting fully released on bluray, dvd, and digital, and will also get streamed on hulu and neon ally. the physical release is in the fall and will be uncut, subtitled, new English dub, and the previously unreleased sailor stars. the streaming starts may 19th. last thing is it is coming from viz media. http://kotaku.com/sailor-moon-is-back-1577710124

I hope the Blu-rays are subbed as well as dubbed. I'm assuming they are.

Continuing my rereading of the manga and my rewatching of the anime, just ugh, sometimes the writing in the manga is just unacceptably awful.

-One chapter we have Usagi, in her bed. The Dark Kingdom make their move, so Tuxedo Mask arrives at Usagi's house, wakes her up and then the two go to the bad guys together.
-Next chapter (different battle), Tuxedo Mask tells Usagi to transform. "OMG TUXEDO MASK KNOWS I'M SAILOR MOON!?"
... Ugh. I refuse to believe that the editors didn't pick this up.

The ending of the Dark Kingdom arc is still absolutely awful though. How can Usagi be so brave and strong when her reaction to any hump in the road is suicide? The scene where the other soldiers are crying over Usagi stabbing herself is just awful. Awful. But then, once Usagi is saved, its never mentioned again. Such a great hero to doom the planet and only save it because her suicide attempt failed.

I'm hoping the manga series improves during R and through to SuperS. I remember hating the Sailor Stars manga version, but we'll see if I prefer the middle sections. I can't remember much about the manga version of S and especially SuperS.

I'm still enjoying the anime though. I love Mamoru before they discover their pasts. Its so sad that becoming Usagi's boyfriend all but obliterated his personality.
